What if the rebuild costs more than the insurance estimate?

Level 3 Xactimate certified estimator

Our estimate will not always match your insurance company's.

That is normal. It has a name. A supplement.

We write ours in their software, so we can show what the rebuild requires.

“Do I have to use the contractor my insurance company recommended?”

No. You have the right to select your own restoration company.

It is one of the biggest misconceptions homeowners have after a loss.

How a rebuild runs with us.

From the first inspection through final completion.

Rebuild

We build it. Mark Washburn oversees every project.

Insurance reconstruction.

We rebuild what the loss took, and document the full scope required.

And what we don't do.

So you know who to call for what.

We are not public adjusters.

We don't determine coverage or negotiate your claim. We document what the rebuild requires.

We are not a mitigation company.

No drying, mold or environmental work. We do the reconstruction itself.

About Mark Allen Builders

Questions people ask us first.

Tap any question to open it.

Why is your estimate higher than my insurance company's?

It often is, and it does not mean anyone is being dishonest. A first inspection cannot see everything, and building code and manufacturer installation requirements are not always accounted for. We write our scope in Xactimate, the same platform your carrier uses, so any difference can be shown line by line.

What is a supplement?

It is the normal way additional items get added to a claim after the first estimate. We document what the rebuild requires and submit it in the format your carrier already works in.

Do I have to use the contractor my insurance company recommended?

No. You have the right to select your own restoration company. It is one of the biggest misconceptions homeowners have after a loss.

How soon can you begin?

We begin once the property is safe to enter and insurance approval is secured. Timely action reduces damage and speeds your return to normal life.

What don't you do?

We are not public adjusters, so we do not determine coverage or negotiate your claim. We are not a mitigation company, so we do not provide drying, mold remediation or environmental work. Our work is the reconstruction itself.

Tell us what happened, and we will tell you what it takes to rebuild it.
